Year of Feasting: Canada Day

In our small town, Canada Day is always a big deal - there's a parade, the waterfront and beaches are packed with both locals and tourists, and a fair comes to town with rides. We sure know how to celebrate! I can only imagine how much bigger the celebration will be this year, being that it's Canada's 150th birthday! In our quaint and quiet neighbourhood, there will also be a big celebration happening with a street party. There will be music, food, and games - and I just know it will be a great party! For those of us with littles that can't stay up until the fireworks show just yet, however, the party will have to end a little early. That's why I decided that my husband and I would keep the fun going on our own front porch, so we can feel like we're a part of it all, while the kids sleep just upstairs. We partnered with a great Canadian brand to bring you this post, and though Giant Tiger sponsored us, everything you read here is 100% true!To start, our front porch needs a MAJOR makeover (as does every inch of the exterior of our house), but this little boost is already a huge improvement on what we have going on out here!To start, we got an outdoor rug from Giant Tiger ($29!!!) and some matching pillows. I love that these will stay on the porch all summer long to bring a little colour into the space!Having a throw for the occasional chilly evening is also a bonus and this one is super light, making it perfect for summer nights. The little side table gives us a spot to put some snacks on and we kept things a little more festive with red cups and a beverage dispenserOh and the cute sandals are also from Giant Tiger and a whopping $9! I also got a $4 citronella candle to keep the mosquitoes at bay. All in all, I just wanted to create a cozy space for us to hang out in while we watch the fireworks from afar! Are you going to be celebrating on July 1st? Have any little ones that need to get to bed before fireworks, like us? Make yourself a cozy spot, grab some snacks, and enjoy a simple night on your own porch. We'll be right here with you!If you want to check out how a few fellow bloggers are celebrating Canada Day, check out all of these talented ladies! You'll surely be inspired to throw your own party, big or small!
