Can you believe it's the LAST DAY of Scarf Week projects? Part of me is sad, because seeing all of the amazing things being made by my fellow Scarf Week-ers was ahhhh-mazing... but part of me is slightly glad I can stop sewing for a little while. You know I'm not exactly good with needles and thread, right? I mean... this week was a first of many for me - first Scarf Week, first sewing project... It's been grand! Speaking of first sewing project... This is also my first clothing project. I made a kimono from a scarf! EEEEEK!!! Are you ready to see it?How to make a scarf into a Kimono in under an hour! Now let me tell you something about this post. As easy as it was to make the kimono, it was SOOOOOO HARD to take pictures of myself in it! First of all, using a self timer and a windy day don't help. I get why fashion bloggers have their own photographers... there's no way you can go back and forth with the timer 25 times like I did. Second of all, taking pictures of my whole entire self in something I made and putting it on the internet. SCARY!  WEIRD! WAY OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE! So even if you hate this project and my pictures, please be kind because this was a tough one for me!Alright let's get to this tutorial already! I photoshopped my tush off for this one, so I hope you like it.

How to make a kimono from a scarf 101:

How to make a scarf into a KimonoOk so at the end of it all, I chose to leave the hem as it was. The bottom of my scarf was a little fringed and not sewn at all like the sides (now sleeves) were, so I pulled some strings (hahahaha I made myself laugh), literally, and fringed all along the front as well. Now put on your awesome kimono and show it off!How to make a scarf into a Kimono in under an hour!So how many of you caught that I'm wearing the twisted scarf bracelet?I have to tell you, I love the flowy sleeves and how light and airy the fabric is, which makes it perfect for Summer! It seems like Summer in Ontario might never arrive, with the exception of a few days here and there in which we can ACTUALLY feel the heat!Oh! Let me show you the back of this thing. That's important too, right? How to make a scarf into a Kimono in under an hour! The pattern on this scarf is SO good. I love the colours, too! I considered adding fringe to it, but the fabric is just way too light for heavy fringe - but if you stick around you might just see an even easier, shorter and fringed project coming up this month! Well friends, that concludes Scarf Week projects and this little tutorial. I have had SUCH a blast this week! Coming up with crafty projects, repurposing scarves and sharing it all with you has been a challenge, a pleasure and oh-so-scarfy! Wanna see how happy I am about it?How to make a scarf into a Kimono in under an hour!THAT happy! I have to thank Lauren from The Thinking Closet SO much for inviting me into this adventure, for being such a lovely Scarf Week coordinator and for all of her hard work! So give her a round of applause (in blogland that probably means comments, which you can shower her with right here!).
