Mid-week update

I don’t want to be one of those non-southern, and also non-American people that says “y’all” (because if I can be honest with you, as I always am, that’s just not right), but…

Y’all, this week has been a little wacky-doodle-crazy! [I, like you, also cannot believe that sentence just happened.]

So my mom is a total hero and came over both Sunday and Monday to help me do like a gazillion things at home.  That’s right, the scary bathroom is included in this!  I for realsies cannot wait to share it with you.  I promise, it’s happening soon!

Anyway, so there was that (and some other homey stuff) happening, which means Tuesday morning I was little miss there’s-not-enough-coffee-in-the-world cranky pants!  That is… until I did the unthinkable and ordered my fave Starbucks drink iced!

Where has the Iced Cinnamon Dolce Latte been all my life?  Right where you’d expect, apparently – at Starbucks.  I am super smart.

Wanna know what else happened Tuesday?  Okay…

My phone died.

Let me just allow that to sink in with you all, because I mean it DIED.

Like, not coming back on, lights off, bye-bye iPhone kind of thing.

Did it sink in?

How did I react?  As any other first-world-problem-filled, over-privileged, spoiled person would – I whined.  I looked at my husband and ACTUALLY POUTED as I said “Baaaaaaaaaaaaaabe, my phone is deeeeeeead!”

I. Am. So. Annoying.

I woke up this morning, totally over it after gaining a little thing called PERSPECTIVE.  And boy, wasn’t that nice?!?!  I haven’t missed my phone too much, with the exception of not being able to creep on people via Instagram.  It’s totes the best ever.  Don’t you worry… I’m still creeping.  I just use my laptop instead!

So where does that leave us, friends?  Well nowhere different than where we were before, really.  I just needed to get that little update out into the world.

Also, my husband said I write my blog the way I talk to people I don’t really know.  I didn’t really like that, but he’s sort of right (stop smiling so smugly, Alex).  Just so you’re aware, I’m pretty sure this post is the closest I have ever come to literally typing just as I would if I was talking to my BFF (which I kind of am, because my besties all read this blog and ummm… hello… YOU are all my besties!)

So is the run-on sentence, dramatic pausing, all caps/voice raising, parentheses over-user Thalita here to stay?  You tell me!  No, seriously… tell me!!

One more update, Etsy has decided to start an affiliate program in some European countries and Canada.  Guess who jumped right on that bandwagon?  So the sidebar has a new little button that looks like this, where you can click to see my my favourite Etsy things!  YAY!  I already had quite a long list going anyway, so this was a no-brainer for me.  Go see some pretty things!

P.S. Did I ever tell you about that time Siri argued with me about how to pronounce my name? (For those of you not yet aware, the “h” is silent in my name… so it’s pronounced “Talita” because I’m all, like, Brazilian, and that’s how we roll!) Anyway, I tried to tell her how to say it, and this is how she responded while still saying my name incorrectly.  Not missing THAT about my silly iPhone… pffsh!

Oh, Siri! I don’t even have an iPhone and I love hearing the crazy tales. :)
And the fact that you write like you talk is something I’m totally jealous of– I’m still trying to break out of that whole post-college “everything I write sounds like it belongs in a thesis paper and not a conversation” thing (with moderate success, so far). Ugh.
I love how open you are; reading your blog makes it easier for me to break out of that mold (true story.)

Racheeeeeel!!! That was such a cool comment to read! I totally know how you feel – I write emails A LOT at work which hasn’t at all helped me break out of essay-writing mode – thanks to 6 years of University! Geez! Seriously though, I pretty much just try to let it all go when I type these days. It’s way more liberating! Even if there are things I probably wouldn’t ACTUALLY say, like “wacky-doodle crazy” because that’s just weird. It’s fun to really let lose when writing though, and I think you do a great job of writing in an easy going way that’s easy and fun to read, so in my books, you’re basically awesome sauce!

[…] Yeah, me too!  Still… super happy to have this phone back even if Siri is a little bit of a jerk. […]

I *knew* it was a silent ‘h’! I call you “Thali” in my head (not as creepy as it sounds :/ ) pronounced “Tali”. Just curious if you have any real nicknames instead of just those made up by bloggers you’ve never met. One of my favorite things about blog reading is hearing everyone’s unique “voice”.

That is absolutely the best and most definitely not creepy! I get called so many different things, but “Tali” is a first and I love it! I get “T”, “Tata” (which is a family nickname from my little brother who couldn’t say my whole name when he was a baby) and “Taleets” the most. :)
Oh and you’re right… it’s very cool to “hear” bloggers through their posts – it’s one of the things that makes YOUR blog so amazing! It’s like we’re all having a conversation in your living room with a cup of tea! How’s THAT for creepy?!?!

It’s only creepy because this gnome ( is currently in the corner of the living room and every time I go in there I can feel him (lovingly) staring at me.
