The Friday 5: Wishing and Hoping

The Friday 5: First Edition

I made the mistake had the pleasure of going to Anthropologie earlier this week, and I must have spent at least an hour in there.  That store just knows how to suck me in!  It’s terrible?  Or awesome?  I’m not sure.  Anyway, it had me thinking Anthro all week long, so that’s the theme of this week’s Five: things on my Anthro wishlist along with the likelihood I will ever actually attain such beauties!

Here are this week’s picks:

29179900_004_bLikelihood pf purchase: UNSURE  —  These are beautiful, that’s a fact.  To buy towels, though, I would have to go to the store and see them.  Not something I’d feel good about purchasing online, because although gorgeous, what’s their drying quality like?  I’m not one for decorative towels, so you bet your bottom these bad boys would get used in my house! Oh and your eyes are not deceiving you – on top of beautifully woven, they are also ombre!  So good!

2014 calendars1/2/3/4   Likelihood of purchase: HIGH  —  It’ll either be the herbs/secret garden calendar in the kitchen, or I’ll be looking for a 2013 maps calendar just for the framing potential!  Hello map gallery wall? Yes, hello!

25432444_012_bLikelihood of purchase: NOT GONNA HAPPEN  —  I know what you’re thinking… “but, Thalita, this is the definition of perfection!!”  Yes, I know.  But perfection comes with a BIG price tag – $490 big, to be exact, for everything you see in that photo (coverlet, 2 standard shams and 2 euro shams).  Ouch.

wallpaper dreams1/2/3/4  Likelihood of purchase: LOW (right now, anyway…)  —  That Etched Arcadia mural is amazing.  Pure work of art!  And the Peonies?  Thinking back of a bookcase for my mega girly office.  *Squeal!*

26313858_070_bLikelihood of purchase: MODERATE (high if it goes on sale)  —  Wishbones make me think of my childhood.  My family had a thing for setting the wishbone aside and my parents always let my brother and I break it.  So this would be a cool thing to have just for the sheer memories of closing my eyes tight, making a wish and holding my breath as I pulled on that little piece of bone!  Also, an appropriate way to finish off a wishlist, no?

That’s all for this week, my lovelies.  I’m not sure I should bother apologizing for the lack of posting this week because you’re probably so used to it!  I’m working on the scary bathroom AND the kitchen hutch posts simultaneously, and that’s probably why neither is finished!  It’s coming… I’m just trying to keep you in as much suspense as possible!  It’s working, right?  Don’t worry, I’ll try to have it done before you completely lose interest!

Love all of that. I think I’ll have to make a stop at Anthropologie next time I’m in Toronto! Just to drool and dream of course lol

Haha!! That is ALL I did, Steph! I did buy a wonderfully smelling candle that I just lit for the first time last night, and it made my house feel like it was suddenly more welcoming and pretty and all Anthro-like. It’ll do for now! A ‘good -to-know’ tip though, their site always has things on sale before the stores in the GTA, it seems… but drooling online can lead to dangerous, credit-card related clicking! :|

Yeah, I can tend to “shop” mindlessly when it’s online so I’ll avoid that haha

OOoooh, yes! Map Gallery Wall all the way!!!
I get lost in Anthro. It’s so pretty and whimsical and ethereal. I go in there just to take a deep breath, smell the amazing candles, and forget about whatever’s got me stressed for a little while. (um, wow. do i sound weird or what?!?!)

Ha ha that’s not weird at all! If it wasn’t so far from where we live (45 minutes), I’d do the same. Instead, I settle for Indigo – books, candles, and Starbucks. Not bad, I guess… it totally de-stresses me, though!!

Anthro is always such an inspirational experience for me. Not only do I want to buy everything in the store and go bankrupt, but I want to borrow all of their incredible decorating ideas for my house. Their design team is seriously brilliant! Love that you tackled a theme last Friday for your five…so much fun. And I’m with Emily, I really like the idea of the map gallery wall! Mark agrees (even though I didn’t ask him…but he is a cartographer at heart, so I know he would agree!).

Will miss participating in the Friday Five tomorrow, but can’t wait to see what else you have collected, my friend!

Thanks, girl! Alex knows when I say the words “I went to Anthro” or “I was thinking about going to Anthro” that means danger! Especially when I say the first one! Haha!
The map gallery wall is so going to happen… I did just move around some furniture in the living room and the original gallery wall needs to be changed (I know… I’m insane. That was like 157 holes in my wall!). So… maybe map gallery wall in the living room. We’ll see. Alex is still kind of freaking out at the fact I’m taking the chalkboard down! Haha poor guy…

Oh and hey, enjoy your Friday off. I linked up to your awesome Haven post, anyway :)

[…] mish-mash – no theme happening here, you know like you sometimes see in my Friday Five, like a wishlist with a wishbone, or inadvertently using the same quote twice in one post.  This has no rhyme or reason, so […]
