The Friday Five: It’s almost OCTOBER!

The Friday 5: First EditionDid that post title freak you out?  Or have you come to terms with all of the PUMPKINS popping up all over Blogland lately?  Ok, pumpkins?!?  Seriously?  Already!??!  How is that even possible?

I’m in denial, aren’t I?

I am.

Darn it.

Ugh.  Ok, well maybe getting my own house Fall-ready this weekend will help me come to terms with the fact that the leaves are indeed changing, and in about a month I will have little ones in their costumes knocking at my door expecting candy, which I’m going to try really really really hard not to eat (obscene amounts of) this year!  I’m rambling.  Let’s just go ahead and see what some brilliant people have been up to this week, shall we?

Here are this week’s picks:

gold-dipped-barstoolsGold dip me!  Please!  Seriously, will my love for gold ever end?  It’s unlikely.  Oh AND pink too?  This girl knows the way to my heart.  This girl, by the way, is Honeybear Lane and there’s a full tutorial on the before and after of these two pretties on her blog!  I found this tutorial via Apartment Therapy this week.

.

anthropologie-inspired-zinc-lettersKeeping with the metallic theme, Jones Design Company shows us how to get some zinc-look-a-like letters just like these from Anthro.  And the crazy thing is, it doesn’t even look impossible to do!  Oh and if you’re hopping over there for the tutorial, make sure you check out the wall of L’s in her front hallway – it’s completely amazing!

.

marbled_side_table$!400xAs if gold wasn’t enough for me, copper is making a serious comeback in the decor world and I couldn’t be happier.  I actually have had a few design plans that included copper and wasn’t sure about mixing it with other metals but, ummm…. hello!  Mixing metals is awesome!  Oh and that little table up there?  Yeah that’s an IKEA hack!  For realsies!  I’m not lying!  Go see it over at Style Me Pretty Living. This was another find thanks to Apartment Therapy!

.

black and white stripe settee -2My love of black and white has become more and more evident as you can see by the kitchen hutch and the re-upholstered chairs, oh and also, I may or may not have picked up a rug (where else, people… at IKEA) that is also black and white.  Problem?  No way Jose.  So now just look at this settee in all it’s glorious black and white upholstery.  And it was nothing to write home about when Shelley got started with it, I tell ya!  Head on over to Crazy Wonderful to see more!

Screen-Shot-2013-09-25-at-10.05.58-AMThis is kind of the most exciting part of The Friday Five this week.  It’s almost October, remember?  And if you’ve been around long enough you know I took part in a little (HUGE) challenge last year that includes exactly what it says up there.  Yep.  Doing it again!  Topic is picked and will be revealed on Monday.  Yes, I am insanely excited.  It’s not too late to join, you know?!!  Just sayin’…

  1. Okay, so the crazy thing is…I have a letter “L” that I painted black, followed by silver, and got that same zinc look! So, reading her tutorial, I was like, “Wait a minute…did I write this?” Ha ha. I didn’t. This was well before I had a blog that I tackled the “L” project, and I think I read a tutorial on it first, so I’m not claiming any creative prowess with it – - I just thought it was cool that you had picked out something I have done! (You can see our imitation zinc “L” in the gallery wall in my “Lime Green is the New Orange” post here: http://www.thinkingcloset.com/2013/09/26/fall-decor-lime-green-is-the-new-orange/)

Also, I’m so excited to know what your topic is going to be for the 31 Days Challenge! Eek! I don’t think I have the hutzpah to tackle 31 days of posts myself…but I will be your cheerleader all the way, girl!

    Go, Thalita!

    • HAHA great minds think alike, right? I love your “L”!!!

31 days has officially begun. I need all the cheerleading I can get, so THANK YOU!
