The Friday 5: First Edition

So this is it... The Friday Five is no more.... for October.  Don't worry, there will be MANY more F5's to come, but they will go back to being random once again, and less about this year's 31 day series so to get us all ready for that randomness, I picked no particular theme for this week.  I just have some seriously awesome goodness from the internet land to share that is loosely based on bringing some love into your home and into your life.

 Here are this week's picks:

IMG_9901Mmmmmmmm.... pad thai.  It's one of my favourite things in this world, and though I have never tried making it myself, this recipe from Chris Loves Julia definitely makes me want to try it.  Oh, and there's a video, too!  Wouldn't you just love to welcome some guests to your home with homemade pad thai?  I know I would... any takers?

Blank Budget Template 2014.xlsDear readers, have you met Becky?  You should.  She's awesome, smart, funny, creative, and the best sketcher out there.  Oh and she MADE this totally amazing budget sheet with pretty colours and formulas and everything.  Then explained how to use it step by step.  Now that you believe me when I said she was smart, go prove me right about all the other stuff by checking out Sketchy Styles.  I don't know about you, but budgeting is not my favourite part of being a responsible adult.  This, however, makes it easier and actually kind of enjoyable!

Powerful words by Mr. Rogers.  This blog post by Emily at Chatting at the Sky does a great job of putting Martha Stewart's controversial interview into perspective.  You need to read this... especially if you are a blogger.  It's a great reminder of the power of our words.  In our homes and in the world..

10167938965_4210d0786a_zOk, yes... this is "stuff"... but it's home made stuff with clay you can buy very inexpensively at the craft store!  I just love their simplicity, and I always think the homemade things are more special than store bought.  So whether you make some of these cute bowls, or someone special in your life does... it has meaning.  There's a full how-to at Decor8!

Entryway Makeover AfterThis house has so many homey spots in it, I just had to show it to you.  And you know, the things I love about it are not the big, expensive things... They are the small details.  Like the little horse.  The mismatched framed pieces.  The appearingly happenstanced placement of greenery.  Go see more of the beautiful pictures over at 6th Street Design School.  You won't regret it.

You know what's next!  Go and see what Lauren is up to this week with The Friday Five: Animals in Costume.  Yeah, it's going to be as amazing as it sounds... she is on a roll with costumes these past few days! Full of amazing ideas!

Have a happy Friday!  It's date night tonight and I am SO EXCITED!  Isn't going on dates with your husband the best?  It totally is!
