How to Create Floral Arrangements in Thrift Store Sugar Bowls
With Mother's Day, Spring, and Bridal Shower & Baby Shower seasons upon us (yeah, I know... those are real things), I wanted to share with you an easy and super inexpensive way to put together small floral arrangements that can be made ahead of time at home for whatever event you might have using FloraCraft wet foam blocks.
Truthfully, I didn't have much experience with wet foam before this. I had used it dry for faux floral arrangements and on the odd occasion for a few larger arrangements, but never for something as small and dainty as these!I'm happy to say it was super easy to use and I'm about to show you just HOW easy!
1. SOAK FOAM IN WATER
This was a lot less complicated than I thought. Literally, all you have to do is drop the FloraCraft wet foam blocks into a sink full of water and let it soak up the water. It takes seconds, then you can take the brick right out. I placed mine on a piece of wax paper and was amazed at how little water came out of it! It's like a sponge that actually just holds the water in!
2. GATHER YOUR CONTAINERS
Whatever you choose to use for this, make sure it's waterproof and won't be ruined if wet inside. I know... like ANYTHING else you'd use for a floral arrangement. I used thrift store sugar bowls I've collected over the years.
3. CUT THE FLORAL FOAM TO SIZE
I estimated how small the pieces would have to be, put them into the bowls, then cut off the excess while it was already in there. To make up for some of the bowls that had a lip around the top, I cut out smaller pieces and stuck them into the sides, making sure the foam was nice and tight in there.
4. START PLACING YOUR FLOWERS
Sometimes I started with the greenery around the container, other times I just started with tall flowers. There was no real method to this for me, I just figured everything would look good because well, they're flowers. It doesn't take much!
And you're done! Just keep going with the rest of your containers. I made about 6 of these, which would be great together as one large centrepiece or separately, maybe even as something extra special to give to wedding guests! How sweet would it be for everyone at a table to get to take one home?
