For The Love of Lavender! + Laundry Soap Recipe Update

So a few months ago I shared with you a lavender-scented laundry soap recipe, and I'm here to tell you that I LOVE it. I love it so much, and even my mom loves it, which must mean I've done something right because she's a stickler for things that smell good and clean well, so I'm feeling like I accomplished something pretty spectacular here! OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe best part about this soap is that it has lasted SO long! I use about 1 tablespoon per load (2 if it's an extra dirty one, like towels used to clean Luther's paws!), which means the soap is extremely inexpensive at $.25 per tablespoon/load! Not bad, right? I also love that I haven't had to buy any laundry detergent for months. This stuff has lasted and lasted, and I still have about a third of it leftover. Here's something I didn't share with you last time: measurements! And I have had a ton of questions about the exact measurements lately, so I want to make sure I answer that very pressing question. A few people have suggested a way to use all of the ingredients so that there are no leftover half empty boxes around. I tell you, The Learner Observer's readers are geniuses! Here we go:

Updated list of ingredients for homemade laundry soap

1 full 3 Kg box of washing soda
1 full 2 Kg box of Borax
1 full 500 g box of baking soda
3 bars of castile soap
1.36 Kg container of Oxi Clean

This will bring up your overall cost because you'll be adding a bar of soap ($5) and doubling on the Oxi Clean (another $5), but because you're making more soap the cost per load will be the same. Win-win, right? The lavender scent is one of my favourite smells in the whole wide world, and this soap makes me happy because the scent lingers on our clothes, but not so much that it's too strong. Just enough to be amazing! You can see the original post and details on the laundry soap recipe right here for more details! Now let's talk a few more lavender-scented goodies, shall we?
