All you need is chili

Hey guys, followers, friends,It's Alex here (Thalita's husband, for those of you who don't know me, or haven't read her numerous entries where I am nailing something to the wall, sampling some delicious new treat, or taking the dog for a walk).Anyways, she is super tired after a long day, and after not really recovering from a sleepless week(end), I told her to go off to bed, and that I would write her entry for the day. After all, I know how much we all have been enjoying the 31 day series. Here's to hoping I don't disappoint. We just finished dinner. What did we have for dinner? My new favorite dish, chili. As we sat at the table enjoying our meal we came upon the realization that this is probably the most delicious chili we have ever had, but also that it is so simple and quick to make!1 pound of ground beef, 2 cans of beans (any kind, doesn't really matter), canned tomatoes, and some chili powder, mix it up in a pot and you're done. What does chili have to do with the theme for the month? Well, I'm glad you asked. As you may or may not know, Thalita has committed to not only posting once a day on ways to make your house a better home, but she has also committed to not buying anything new for the house. (In case you were wondering she is doing amazing so far, even though I'm convinced she is saving all her money, putting things on lay away and come November 1, she is going to storm HomeSense to bring all her new beauties home, and subsequently putting them out of business). Wow, almost lost it there for a minute...Chili...right, we're eating our chili and we realized, this is all you need, each other, some good conversation, and a pound of meat.So much can be said about the time spent together in the kitchen preparing and cooking dinner, you look back on your day, talk about the good, talk about the bad, laugh, dance, if the occasion calls for it, and then laugh again, but at the end of the day...when all is said and done, what it really boils down to is: you don't need "stuff" to make your house a better home...all you need is chili. Thanks for reading, happy cooking. (Sorry for the lack of pictures)-Alex
