One Room Challenge 2014: Week 5

Ok I'm freaking out a little. Our floors are still not done, you guys. It's been a crazy few weeks for Alex and he hasn't had much time to work on them, and I'm afraid if I try to do it myself I'll just mess it up, and I would be required to use a jigsaw. Casey from Waffling can attest that I am not really great with those! Anyway, there has been some minor work done this week. More dresser painting and hardware purchasing and the headboard is well underway. Here are the handles I'll be using on one of the dressers. They're just replacing the bottom 3 because one was missing. I went to Lee Valley Tools, and it was like a little slice of heaven in there! So much to see! The new handle is the middle one, the old is the bottom. I went with these because they're similar in style and colour and I won't have to make new holes in the dresser!handlesSpeaking of dressers, the other one has been painted too! Same colour, and the hardware will be grey also rather than brass. That's because I wouldn't remove the hardware. Oh well!grey dresser And the headboard! It's coming along...After two layers of mattress foam and batting, this bad boy is ready to be finished!headboardI've measured out where the buttons will go. Just gotta make the holes now!headboard 2The buttons for the headboard will likely be white, but I am considering gold, too. The white is my gut instinct because it's classic and timeless to go white on white, but the gold could be super fun. What do you think?buttonsThere will also be brass nailhead trim along the sides. They won't be too visible, just enough to add a nice finishing detail.Ok, so I guess that's it?! The vision is slowly coming to life and this last week will be a challenge, but also super fun. I can't wait to have this room together in a week! Now seriously, please weigh in on my button dilemma!
