Packing for a Spring trip
This has been a post I have toyed with for literally an entire year.A whole YEAR!Is that ridiculous or what?So why did it take me so long? Well because this is something a little out of my comfort zone, a little unusual for this blog, and therefore a little scary to put out into the world, ya know? I couldn't wait any longer so I'm throwing in this post smack dab in the middle of the One Room Challenge! Let's get to it, then...It's been a year since Alex and I took a trip to London and Paris and before we left I planned out most of my outfits, taking pictures of them all with my phone. And yes, I did reference the photos while we were there to help me get dressed quickly.Today I want to share with you a quick and easy way to pack to ensure you will be both comfortable and (dare I say it) stylish!
1. SHOES!
I didn't pack a single pair of shoes with heels. Not one! There is a lot of walking to be done in Paris (especially if you really want to enjoy the city), so I packed shoes I knew would be comfortable and still look good! I also only packed neutral shoes that could be worn with everything I brought. I did pack a pair pf black boots also, because we went to London and I knew if it rained, I wouldn't want to be in little flats!
2. JACKETS
I packed two blazers (one denim and one black) because they can be dressed up or down and act as jackets in the Spring. Also, they're easy to carry if I get warm. I also packed one short-sleeved light jacket which was great for layering and super comfortable!
3. DRESSES
I packed three. I did not need that many. Two dresses are the most a gal will ever need for a regular trip, in the event of a fancier dinner, a warmer day, or just wanting to be a little extra girly! The blazers come in handy here as well because they're totally dress-friendly!
4. PANTS
Am I crazy for telling you to pack three pairs of pants and a pair of leggings for a week-long trip? Maybe. But, honestly, more is just more in this case and you don't really need it. A pair of jeans, some comfortable cropped pants and a pair of fitted dress pants in a neutral print ought to do it. Maybe throw in a black pair, if you really must!
5. ACCESSORIES
I brought with me two scarves and very few jewellery - a watch, versatile and simple stud earrings, a neutral necklace and one in a fun colour. Pretty basic! Sorry for the dirty boots - the Versailles grounds were crazy dusty!Something I made sure to bring with me: a small cross-body bag. It forced me to carry only the essentials every day and kept from having a heavy load to carry. Definitely a must! Alex and I took turns carrying the camera, which was separate, and sometimes we stuck to phone-only pictures!Yep, that's Abbey Road up there!I made up a little collage of all of the things I think would be handy to have for a Spring trip. You can see that the colours are mostly neutral, with a couple of colourful pieces thrown in for fun. I kept it as close as possible to the items that I actually packed.
Well, I believe that's all the fashion advice I have for you. I'm certainly no fancy fashion blogger, as is evident by this entire post, but I hope this comes in handy to someone out there when packing for a Spring getaway!
