Just call me Betty Crocker!  Ok, or don't... because who am I kidding, I didn't even bake for this!  Truth is, I have been making a considerable effort to actually make things lately instead of just buying them.  I'm a DYI-er when it comes to home decor, but in the kitchen, when it comes to baking, I tend to prefer just buying something pre-made since it's guaranteed to be tasty!  Makes sense?  Not always...chocolate strawberries & oreo barkI know it's unusual to see a food post here on The Learner Observer (think way back to that lovely Pasta e Fagioli - yum!), but I thought I should share some pretty and tasty things I whipped up this afternoon to share with some dear friends.  After all, this blog is about learning and doing, right?  So let's get to it.The downside to this is that I took no process pictures, and that was for two reasons: 1- I didn't even know for sure I would be posting about these, and 2- I was home alone and Luther sucks at holding a camera still while my fingers are covered in chocolate!  Go figure!Chocolate-covered strawberries look great, taste great, and are not that hard to make - winning combo!  I didn't follow a particular recipe for this, just thought they looked really tasty in frequently pinned images like this one from Six Sister's Stuff.  I melted the chocolate in the microwave in 20-second intervals, mixing in between each one and the rest was as easy as washing the strawberries and dipping them in.  I laid them on some wax paper and placed them in the freezer for about 15 minutes to set the chocolate.  Done!milk chocolate strawberries and white chocolate oreo bark piecesThe white chocolate Oreo bark came from an image I pinned recently and the recipe is from Maria's Culinary Adventure.  It was labelled "Easiest Dessert Ever" on Pinterest for a very good reason - it is the farthest thing from difficult!  I won't regurgitate the recipe here for you since you can go to the source and see it for yourself, but let me just say this: there are two ingredients, and it takes all of about 5 minutes to prep.  My kind of recipe!!Maybe next time I'll try something that requires a little more effort, but for those of you who need a quick and easy dessert (or two), these are sure to be winners, and you can have a lot of fun with them by mixing other things in too!milk chocolate strawberries and white chocolate orep bark

Pinning recipes is easy and an undeniable hobby of mine, but actually completing them is way better, don't you think?

Happy pinning and making!
