His and Hers: A Simple Romantic Gift
I never shared with you guys what Alex and I got one another for our first wedding anniversary.
It's kind of a funny story...Since the first year of marriage is the year os "paper" as far as gifts go, I had mentioned to him that I got him a paper gift. And he decided to do the same. I'm hoping this is a tradition we can keep going, and since this year is cotton, I'm interested to see what we'll come up with...So on our anniversary we had a good laugh when we opened our presents and found these:
That's right... we got each other the same gift without knowing it.
Cue the "awwwwwwww", right?I opened mine first...Alex went a little old school. He printed his vows using a typewriter font, then burned the edges of the paper, wrinkled it all up and dipped it in a coffee/tea mixture. I LOVE that. How many times do you remember doing this as a kid for History projects? I know I did it a LOT! So when I saw that he did that I instantly smiled and laughed because it was so nostalgic. I also happened to notice he framed it in a gold frame. Honestly, is this guy amazing or what? He totally gets my gold love!I giggled the whole time as he opened his...
I printed mine using the "Lavanderia" font, which is a script font. I used a thrifted GOLD frame I had around the house for a little while, and though I considered spray painting it to freshen it up, the patina on it was kind of awesome, so all I did was take a gold marker and paint the inside edge of the mat for a little extra pop. I had my vows printed at Staples and left the paper as is.
Yep... Alex laughed too, when he saw it and understood my giggles! Here are the two of them side-by-side. The same, but different. So if you're looking for a traditional paper first wedding anniversary gift or a sweet, simple and easy to make Valentine's Day gift, here it is!I have to say, it's a sweet treat to wake up in the morning and see these words on our bedroom wall every day!Don't forget to enter the $50 Etsy gift card giveaway happening this week!
