I see London, I see France...

...but don't worry, you won't see any underpants.Take that whatever way you want. I realize it can sound a little bit scandalous, but I assure you this post is family friendly!Friends, get ready for a picture-filled post. My apologies if it takes a long time to load, but I think it'll be worth it.

London

Day 1: We promptly went to the London Eye. Waited in line for about 2 hours because we didn't know that Easter Break in Europe is two weeks long! Tip #1: look into that before you go! The wait was worth it, though. The trees were in full, beautiful bloom and there were carrots hanging from them all along this path.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAScreen Shot 2014-07-09 at 2.42.35 PM

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe closest we got to Big Ben because let's face it, this is the best view!

We walked quite a bit this day, and got to see a lovely view of St. Paul's Cathedral and the sun setting over Tower Bridge and London Bridge. It was a pretty magnificent way to end our first day in Europe!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWe arrived back at our Airbnb apartment late that night only to realize we were in the sketchiest part of town! It was a bit scary, but we were (thankfully) only staying there for one night. Tip #2: Look into neighbourhoods! We did look into Paris quite well, but I failed to do the same in London. There are no photos of said sketchy apartment except for the next one, which was actually quite nice because our view at breakfast turned out to be beautiful.Day 2: We spent the day with family, which was so lovely! The morning started out well, knowing we'd be leaving scary-town to go to the BEAUTIFUL Waldorf Hilton Hotel. This was thanks to my father in law who hooked us up, and I am forever grateful to him! We SO would not have stayed there otherwise. Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 2.57.03 PMWe hit up some super touristy sites that day, including The National Gallery (practically my favourite place in London), Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guards, Covent Garden, and lots of bus rides around the town.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAYou're welcome for this slightly embarrassing photo of me.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWe totally got told by a guard to promptly get off the ledge. So glad this one was documented!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMade it! ...after a MOST embarrassing 20 seconds of my bum up in the air as I nearly failed to pull myself up on this thing. Also scratched the face of my watch in about 5 different places. Worth it? Totally.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe madness at Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guards. I took this while sitting on Alex's shoulders!

Day 3: Our last full day in London was spent at The British Museum, visiting Abbey Road Studios, walking around Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden, and having dinner with some lovely friends.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANo picture can do justice to how massive the British Museum is. I love seeing the Parthenon sculptures there.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMy Art History geekiness came out in a LARGE way this day, my friends...

Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 3.13.41 PMThe sign that absolutely did not deter Alex from entering, and quickly being asked to leave by the largest security guard I have ever seen.

Day 4: We make our way to Paris by plane, after failing to realize that Eurostar tickets should be purchased 90 days in advance for the best fares. Tip #3: Look into that! We flew EasyJet, which was cheap and exactly what you'd expect from a small domestic airline. Scary, small, a little bumpy and probably the worst part of the entire trip for Alex, who is not exactly keen on flying. But we made it!

Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 3.31.53 PMI see France! Told you there would be no underpants...

Stay tuned for Paris pictures soon, and a little roundup post with tips for dos and don'ts in each city.

Hope you've enjoyed this short trip to Londontown!

xoxo
