Simple Fall Decorating
Apparently I can't get my stuff together enough to decorate my house seasonally unless I take part in home tours, so here we go again! But seriously, I love doing this and I especially love seeing all of the other tours from fellow Canadian ladies because they're just so darn creative and wonderful.Once you make it to the bottom of this post you can see all of the links to their homes as well! This year I managed to get some simple Fall decorating done, and I love the little hints of the season everywhere without having to change too many things.Special thanks to the lovely Christina at The DIY Mommy and Shannon at AKA Design for putting this together and getting us all so organized! Now let's get to my old unfinished house which has a surprising amount of finished corners in it - enough to give you a tour! We're going to start in the front entry. This space will actually be finished by November, and I cannot wait! Paint, a rug, and staining the stairs are all on the list. Oh, and trimming the door, too... Minor detail, right? This old dresser is the perfect piece in this spot, since we can hide all kinds of things in there. I have a feeling there will be scarves galore going into these sometime in the near future... I haven't decided if we'll keep the basket of shoes yet. It's very handy, but hooks to hang coats would also be great in this space since we have none, and that means the stair post gets to be the holder of all of our guests' coats in the Winter...Oh, and in this next shot you can see a little sneak peek of our dining room, complete with a pack of baby wipes on the countertop. We just finished the space this month, and it will be fully revealed in November!Up next is the kitchen.Basically nothing has changed here, with the exception of a few changes to things on the shelves. Overall, this space remains basically the same!I did clip a few blooms from our own yard.I do love the texture and colours of Fall, though it has yet to feel like Fall at all here! Our family room isn't decorated for Fall at all because it's been a little bit of a playroom for the kids, so it just gets ALL of the primary colours. Maybe I'll make that a thing... primary colours for Fall. Great idea, right? So this is as far as I got with the Fall decor in there. You can see how I made this triangle wreath here! Finally, our bedroom. The only thing I did in here was remove floral pillows and take the pink pillows off the bed and replace them with these green velvet ones.I also switched out the throw on one of the chairs for something a bit more textured, and I removed the faux peonies from my bedside table and replaced them with a dark green box (which has been great to keep all of my small bits & bobs organized). The corner with the chairs almost looks like a completely different room because it's so white and bright, whereas the other side is so moody. I kind of like that about this room! And if you want to see just how unfinished the house is, look our for missing trim and crown moulding we don't even know how to fix because our ceiling is so slanted! And that's all she wrote! If you'd like to shop a few of the things you see here, I've linked some of the products that are as similar as possible to what I actually own. As always, feel free to ask me about anything you see![show_shopthepost_widget id="2830945"]To be honest, I surprised myself with getting this many spaces styled and photographed, so expect to see a LOT of these images on Instagram over the next few weeks. I'll remember this day fondly as the day my house looked the way I imagine it, and not the way my kids leave it - with crumbs everywhere and stuffed animals/mega blocks/books/sippy cups in every room. Now it's time for you to enjoy some more house tours! Every day this week 4-5 of us will share more spaces decorated for Fall, so keep coming back to see some beautiful homes every day!
