Spring Home Tour 2017
Despite still living in an unfinished house, I choose to decorate it seasonally because I believe your home should make you happy. Seeing greens and blooms around the house in preparation for what's to come does just that for me - it makes me happy! So today I'm sharing with you my Spring home tour, and if you get to the bottom of this post you'll see several other Canadian bloggers who are sharing more Spring decor inspiration to make you forget the frigid temps still going on - at least here in the Great White North! The living room was the first space to have a few hints of Spring added to it. I changed up the picture ledge above the couch and added some lighter pieces to the mix. Suddenly the whole room feels airier! This is what I love about picture ledges - they're so much easier to change than a gallery wall and I don't end up with 391 holes on the wall like I did at our last house!Though the coffee table truly does not look like this on a daily basis because my toddlers would eat everything sitting here, it's nice to occasionally see it decorated and looking a little more put together. It's normally covered in fish crackers, toys and baby wipes, so this is a bit of an upgrade! This little corner also lightened up a bit, as I added some different artwork to the shelves and gave in to the kids' books that tend to live here. I had been fighting the toys and books making their way to the family room because they have a playroom AND their bedroom, but we also spend a lot of time down here, so it was only a matter of time. Slowly the toys are creeping in!I should also state that I didn't purchase a single new thing to switch up the decor. These were all things I already had at home, and that mostly used to live in my old office, so I simply took away the darker pieces and brought in more things with pinks and blues - a combo I don't seem to tire of these days! Also, a lot of these prints are free printables, like this one by Jones Design Company. In the kitchen, I kept lots of things the same, like the area around the sink. It has been looking like Springtime for a while over here thanks to this vintage peach jug and some faux flowers!I should note that as I type this, our new appliances have just arrived, and it makes a world of difference. This means we're nearing the finish line for the kitchen makeover, you guys!!The coffee area got my favourite piece of art. It's an original watercolour I bought a few years back when Marquis and I went to Paris. We were coming back from Versailles and walked into an antique shop and this was there, just begging to come home with me. So it did.I changed a few things on these shelves and added a few more white pieces to lighten them up. The milk glass collection was gathering dust in a box, so I brought them out, but I don't think this is where they're meant to live permanently. And that is the end of it!Truth be told, the dining room is a crazy mess right now with everything needing to be moved for appliances to come in. The island was FULL of dishes and all other random pieces of decor while I shot these photos, and I no longer have that pretty tray on the coffee table, but the touches of Spring are there. The flowers, the artwork, and the general feeling of lighter and brighter is finally here, even if the weather won't cooperate! Now, as promised, here are the other bloggers participating in this Spring home tour hop.
