#TheLOBathReno Part 2: Progress!

The madness of pre-babies renovations continues! So we have actually gotten lots of work done, which both surprises and delights me. And again, when I say we, I mean my husband and my dad, because I basically go into the washroom to look and be amazed at what's being done, and also occasionally to clean and tidy up because the insane amounts of dust and tools everywhere drive me a little nuts!Ok, so let's take a look at what's been going on, and if you missed the beginning, go check out part 1 of the renovation to see where we started with this all-mustard, falling apart bathroom! The tub surround has walls again, and they're dry this time! Heck, it even has tile back up on the walls! Glorious, white subway tiles that make me swoon. Now all we need is grout!IMG_8050-1The old plain mirror has been replaced as has the too-short vanity. The huge holes in the walls caused by ugly backsplash removal have been covered up, too!You may have seen on Instagram that we also added board and batten. This was a first for both my husband and I, and I dare say we did a pretty darn good job! We used some primed MDF and I even did all of the measuring myself. Crazy, right? I had no idea I could handle that, but it all worked out! The recessed medicine cabinet, which I adore, worked out so well in here! It feels very luxurious to have a larger mirror AND storage above the sink all at the same time. It's the little things, right?IMG_7974I love that the sink is now off to the left side, giving us lots of countertop space over to the right. It made so much sense to have this in our bathroom, given that the mirror could never be centered to the 36" vanity anyway thanks to the window. Oh and hey, we picked a light fixture! Thanks for all of your input on IG and Facebook. It really did help! Now as for the mustard walls... well, as you can see, those are long gone as well and it makes me want to sing! The Learner Observer - bathroom renovations with board and batten and a recessed medicine cabinetThings are coming along in here, but there's still plenty to be done, like grouting the tub surround, tiling the floor, installing the fan, properly installing the vanity (because it's sort of just floating right now), making sure all plumbing parts are fully functional again and adding all of the decorative finishing touches like towel hooks, shower curtain, etc. I can't wait to get to that fun stuff! Here are the plans I started out with, so you can see how some things have changed already, like the lighting and medicine cabinet we chose.#TheLOBathReno - inspirationI have no idea if there will be any window treatment on this tiny window as of yet. I would ultimately love to have California shutters here, just for the look of it, but I really dislike the price tag on those things! Any suggestions? I'm thinking for now we'll leave the window bare. There are no neighbours facing it, so it's not a window anyone can see into.So that's that, my friends. We're making progress and I feel like I can see a light at the end of the tunnel! Though this means that I've officially dropped out of the One Room Challenge for this round, I'm so happy that we've accomplished all of this in the bathroom and even got to paint our whole living room. Yep... it's white! I'll update you on that once we have a rug and accessories in place. It's pretty bland right now!I hope you guys have a great weekend!
