One Room Challenge: Powder Room (Week 5)
So we're officially in the home stretch now and if you noticed (*you probably didn't) I didn't even post an update for week 4! Things have been on hold because, well, babies! What else is new! Honestly, I find it so hard to focus on getting small projects done around the house when there are things like kitchen countertops to be chosen, boxes to be unpacked, food to be cooked, clothes to be washed... you know, just regular everyday stuff! Oh, and raising two babies. Yeah, there's that, too. Honestly if you're a mom and you find time to do things with two little humans at your feet and crawling into and onto all the things all the time, message me. I need to know your secrets!Anyway, about the powder room... You can see where I started by checking out weeks 1, 2 and 3, in case you're new here!I got some really annoying work finished in there. I painted all the grooves in between the shiplap boards. It took 4 foam brushes and all of my patience, but it's done! You may notice that the window is a little different. That's because it's no longer brown! I spray painted that bad boy black. So much better.I also painted the ceiling.BLACK!Weeeeee! I'm so happy happy happy about the ceiling, you guys! I originally wanted this whole room to be dark, but a certain someone (ahem-husband) wouldn't go for it. He was probably right (shhhh never tell him I said that) because the room is small and not very well lit. I just loved the idea of a black room. Especially since most of our house is white right now.Anyway, we still have a few things to get finished before next week. Here's the list:
- hang artwork
- install lighting
- towel bar & toilet paper holder install
- add a shelf? (maybe)
- put up blinds
- hang mirror
- clean and style!
It's really not a WHOLE lot, so I feel good that I can actually get this thing done. Maybe. I don't know.Ugh.Cross your fingers for me, will you?I do have a dillemma, however, and maybe you can help me. I can't decide whether I should put up this one large print we got in Paris a couple of years ago (yes, it's stained, ripped and all, but it's an original piece I found in Versailles at a small antique shop and I love it) or the two smaller pieces, which are maps: one of Brazil, one of Jamaica (where I was born and where Alex was born). I have to see it on the wall, but will you give me a little input? Pretty please? (My foot is in there for scale purposes)I also can't decide if I should put art above the toilet or on the opposite wall. Making decisions is really not my forte right now, can you tell?Regardless of my inabilities to decide on anything, next week is the reveal! Yikes!Don't forget to go see what everyone else is up to over on Calling It Home!
