Scarf Turned Camera Strap {SCARF WEEK}
You guys!!! It's day two! Can you believe it?!?! I really can't. I am SO. EXCITED. about this week still. I can hardly contain myself! I seriously can't get enough of seeing Rob Lowe in a pink scarf. It's pretty much the best!So, today I bring you another repurposed scarf:
I'm going to make this tutorial as short and sweet as possible - and full of pictures. It's super simple, so let's get to it. First, here's what you'll need:
The camera is for us crazy bloggers who need to take pictures of all of our projects. Because I made this strap for my main camera, I used my old point-and-shoot to photograph the strap once it was finished. Takes me back to the old blogging days, before the PEN was in my life!
To get started, take out two of the split rings and follow the below instructions:
At this point your camera strap essentials are finished, but it looks a little messy, a little boring, and unfinished like this:
Not exactly pretty, right? So next you get to pick whether you want to use ribbon or vinyl. I picked vinyl for two reasons: the first is because it happened to match the green on the scarf oh-so-well! The second? You'll see!
I cut strips of vinyl about 1/8 of an inch thick and used super glue to attach the end to the strap.
Now you just wrap it around, hiding the stitching and leftover fabric and attach the other end with more super glue. This thing isn't going anywhere!
Now you get to attach your brand new strap to your camera! This is where the split ring comes in handy - attaching and removing this strap is easy peasy!
Oh so why did I pick the vinyl over the ribbon? Well I made these super cute tassel keychains a little while ago and ended up using one of them to embellish the camera strap a little!
And that's it! All done! This strap is already lighter and more comfortable than the last one I had which was slightly bulkier, and this is WAY cuter! Am I right?
So what do you think? Would you try this at home? Or maybe for a friend? It might make a sweet gift for a budding photographer in your life! I know Luther sure loves it...can you tell?
