Dining Room Tweak

It's funny how sometimes you think you've finished a space, only to realize that you don't, in fact, like a lot of things about it. Thank goodness Wayfair and Fusion Mineral paint were willing to help me figure this out! P.S. they sent me product for this project, but I chose them myself because I love them.When I designed our dining room, I loved every detail. The table was nice and wide, the chairs large and comfortable, and they looked great! Plus there was that buffalo check/gingham wall!Here's what the original plan looked like:And this is how it was executed:Truthfully, I liked the idea of the formal end chairs with the less formal oak ones, I liked the gingham wall making things a little more easy-going as well, but I grew out of love with the mismatched chairs, and I needed more of the informal in this room, especially because it's attached to our kitchen and we use this table every single day.Enter Fusion Mineral Paint and a chair swap!I painted the dining room table in Putty by Fusion, and instantly loved it. I then sold the two Louis chairs and got two more of the same oak chairs we already had from Wayfair. To top it all off, a new mirror to replace the more traditional one that was once there, and we're all set!If the table top looks a little smoother, it's because it is. I filled in the weird gap that went around the top of the table and sanded everything down. I had actually intended on staining the top and only painting the base, but the wood veneer did not take stain well, even with a wood conditioner.Now I just need to paint the hutch and this room will actually be complete!Have you ever made small tweaks in a room to make it work for you? Try it out. Painting a table may not have been the easiest feat, but it sure beats buying a new one!
